System Configuration Details

Keep in mind that you are not allowed to have any source files around. You must use the configuration described on this site (see also the page about the technical details of the contest). We will check this on game-day and cheating is obviously not allowed.

Creating a Boot Disk
First, put your Red Hat CD into the CD-ROM drive. Next follow whichever set of instructions fits your OS:
Windows
You need to use Rawrite (which comes on the Redhat CD) to put the boot.img file (found in the images directory on the CD or at ftp://ftp.cc.gatech.edu/pub/Linux/distributions/redhat/redhat-6.0/i386/images/) on a floppy. Then copy the ks.cfg and syslinux.cfg files on to the floppy. The install floppy is now ready.
Linux
Become root. As root, do 
   dd if=./boot.img of=/dev/fd0H1440
Mount the floppy drive 
   mount -t msdos /dev/fd0H1440 /mnt/floppy
Copy the ks.cfg and the syslinux.cfg files onto the floppy 
   cp ks.cfg syslinux.cfg /mnt/floppy
